My parents tracked me down a copy of Ross’s graphic novel The Abandoned [now out of print] a few years ago and it’s one of my most prized posessions. The main character is a fat black lesbian who kills zombies with a plunger. Literally the best story ever.

when people concern troll about fat peoples’ health, why is mental health not a factor? how does making someone feel shitty, embarrassed, and subhuman make them ‘healthier’ or make them want to be ‘healthier’ (and this is accepting the premise that being fat is unhealthy and being thin is healthy, which is a common fallacy and a premise i don’t actually accept)?

I found this in a magazine. This disgusts me. What I got out of it was that if you have acne, the person you love is going to break up with you. This advertisement is pathetic. This is a perfect example of what our society is like these days. This makes people think that they have to have perfectly clear skin or else they will never be in a relationship. I’ve dealt with bad acne and I do treat it but this is seriously horrible.

This is disgusting. I’ve seen a lot of objectification and body shaming before, but this is a whole new level of fucked up.

Her acne contributed to a “loss” in her confidence, so he left her? What kind of fucked up relationship is she supposed to be chasing? Oh yeah, the one where the self esteem of women* is balanced solely on outward appearance and in meeting unrealistic standards in order to maintain an even unhealthier relationship.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call this victim blaming, but look at how easy a leap in logic it is to say that maintaining appearance = maintaining relationship, therefor maintaining an “acceptable” appearance = not being targeted for harassment or assault.

Well fuck this shit, RIGHT in the ear.
